Kath is an essayist, arts reviewer and researcher. She recently contributed the lead chapters to the anthologies #MeToo: Stories from the Australian Movement and Fashion: New Feminist Essays. Her work has also appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald, ABC, Meanjin, The Conversation, The Saturday Paper, Daily Review, Overland and numerous other publications.
She has contributed to the books Mediating Memory: Tracing the Limits of Memoir (Routledge), DIY Feminism (Allen & Unwin) and Guide to Aboriginal Australia and the Torres Strait Islands, and she was the co-ordinating author of the award-winning Out to Eat Sydney series (Lonely Planet). She has worked as a university media advisor, tutor and researcher, and as an editor of online news sites such as The Hoopla.
She is a board member of the Sydney Writers’ Room and an associate member of the Centre for Media History. She recently completed a doctoral thesis at Macquarie University’s Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies, receiving the Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence (see Kath’s Academia page for scholarly work).
